Brother Corporate Grand Prix At Wembley Park

28 April 2017 10:08
The Brother Corporate Grand Prix is set to star in a spectacular day of cycling when the Tour Series visits Wembley Park for the first time ever on 16 May.

The Pro-Am relay format race will kick off the racing at 16:30, with 15 non-elite teams battling it out around the 1.5km circuit that includes the concourse of Wembley Stadium and Olympic Way, known to fans the world over as Wembley Way.

The race will give cycling enthusiasts from key organisations, including world renowned brands and members of the press the chance to battle it out around the circuit,

Among these teams, will be Club Wembley, London Designer Outlet, Jurys Inn and Brent Council, as well as a Wembley Park press team and Tour Series sponsors Brother, SKODA, Eisberg and Foxhills will all be among those racing.

Each team competing will also be joined by one of the professionals racing in the evening's Tour Series event, who will complete their final lap after giving them plenty of coaching and expert advice on how to handle the testing circuit.

Phil Jones MBE, Managing Director of Brother commented:

"This is our second year sponsoring the Tour Series Corporate GP. Rarely as an amateur do you get to ride the same circuit as the professionals, being cheered along by large crowds in an electric atmosphere. It's a really rare thing to do and many of the teams participating will have their clients and colleagues involved, benefitting from a really unique shared experience. We have three teams participating this year so are planning to put out a strong challenge for the podium.”

The Wembley Park round, presented by Jurys Inn, will feature an afternoon of community events and non-elite activities on the circuit from 13:00 onwards, before spectators can look forward to seeing 13 top women's teams battling it out in the Matrix Fitness Grand Prix Series race at 18:30.

Those teams racing will include the likes of UCI teams Drops and Team WNT, plus the Storey Racing squad of Britain's most decorated Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey.

The men's teams will then take to the circuit for Round Four of The Tour Series at 20:30, led by defending team champions JLT Condor of double-Olympic Champion Ed Clancy OBE, racing into the twilight, with the race and podium presentations concluding shortly before 22:00 on the Finish Straight outside the London Designer Outlet.

Angus Dodd, Chief Executive of Quintain (delivering Wembley Park), said:

"We're delighted that so many world class organisations are now confirmed to take part in The Brother Corporate Grand Prix at Wembley Park. The course is exciting and the Wembley Park venue is perfectly suited to hosting an event like this. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the 16 May, to witness some of the best bike racers in the UK battle it out. The TourSeries and the Brother Corporate Grand Prix are precisely the sort of live events we love having at Wembley Park.”
