Coquard Takes Etoile de Besseges Opening Stage Victory

Vital Concept's Bryan Coquard has won the opening stage of the Etoile de Besseges in France.Stage One was a 145km stage from Bellegarde to Beaucaire and five riders in Edward Planckaert (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise), Marco Bernardinetti (Amore & Vita-Prodir). his  teammate Jan-André Freuler, Juan Antonio Lopez-Cozar Jaimez (Euskadi Basque Country-Murias and  Nicolas Baldo (St. Michel-Auber 93) took the points on offer on the climbs and sprints and at one time had a lead of six minutes.That started to fall and with nine kilometres to go, the break was ended and the sprint ensued. Vital Concept's Bryan Coquard took the win in 3.16.42 ahead of Sacha Modolo of EF Educaton, Pierre Barbier of Natura4ever- Roubaix-Lille-Metropole, Marc Sarreau of Groupama FDJ and Cofidis' Christophe Laporte.        . read full article
