Pascal Eenkhoorn of LottoNL-Jumbo has won the third stage of the Colorado Classic. Gavin Mannion of UnitedHealthCare was in the blue jersey for a third 161.9km stage which started and finished in Velorama. British rider Hugh Carthy of EF Education, Joe Dombrowski, Damien Howson, Dan Martinez, Tom Skujins, Brayan Sanchez and Jelly Belly’s Keegan Swirbul broke after Joe Lewis had taken the first sprint and Martinez the points on the Lookout Mountain climb, were 1.20 ahead of the peloton with 65kms to go. On to the India Hills climb and the lead was at 1.05 with an average speed for the first three hours of 41.5kmh. The gap dropped to under a minute with twenty kilometres left as the break pushed on with Skujins, Howson and Dombrowski and Carthy, who took the sprint points going clear of the other three. The gap to the peloton was fifteen seconds so Sergei Tvetcov jumped out of the pack and made it into the break. Tom Skujijns attacked heading into Downtown Denver with Tvetcov joining him. However, the pack caught them and LottoNL-Jumbo’s Pascal Eenkhoorn came up to take the win in 3.42.54 ahead of Avila and race leader Gavin Mannion.          Kev Monks for Digital Sports Group .read full article
