This article first appeared on BikeRadar. We first reported on the aerodynamic HJC Furion helmet more than a year ago, and have recently received one for testing. Since then, the company has expanded its range to include a more ventilated Ibex model and more affordable H.sonic. HJC is a Korean manufacturer that has produced motorcycle helmets since 1971. With its established expertise in helmet development, it has now branched out into cycling.ADVERTISEMENT Best road bike helmets Best aero road helmets In-house wind tunnels Aerodynamics are arguably more critical on a motorbike helmet, with high speeds requiring a helmet that has clean airflow so as to reduce noise and improve comfort and safety. That means HJC has access to its own wind-tunnel facility, which it has used to minimise drag while maximising ventilation in their helmets. HJC claims class-leading ventilation for its Furion model. The 'Advanced Air Channel System' is designed for maximum internal airflow that is driven by the pressure differential of the airflow around the helmet — HJC dubs this 'Venturi Dynamics'.
