Sam Bennett Takes Tour Of Turkey Stage Two Win

Irishman Sam Bennett of Bora Hansgrohe has won the second stage of the 54th Presidential Tour of Turkey. Max Richeze of Quick Step was in the leader’s jersey for this 149km stage which started and finished in Alanya. Four riders in Onur Balkan (TUR), Sprengers (SVB), Orjuela Guiterrez (MZN) and Zabala (CJR) spent most of the stage in the break with Balkan in the white Turkish Beauty Sprint jersey, taking the sprint after 59.7kms. Sprengers took the bonus sprint as their lead dropped to under a minute going into the final twenty kilometres. Balkan, the Turkish champion, dropped back into the peloton, as the tempo picked up. Thomas Sprengers was the last rider to be caught, staying away until there was 9.4kms to go. The sprint was on with Bahrain-Merida leading with 4.3kms left and Sam Bennett in the green jersey just behind them. CCC took over on the front but Sam Bennett of Bora Hansgrohe came up to take the win in 3.24.37 from Alvaro Hodeg and Consomni.Sam Bennett now leads the race by six seconds. . read full article
