Stefan Keung With Time Trial Win At Volta ao Algarve
Groupama FDJ’s Stefan Keung has won the 45th
Volta ao Algarve Stage Three.
The main race in
Portugal, which is a World Tour event, had Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) in the overall lead
for the third stage which was a 20.5km time trials in Lagoa.
Josef
Cerny (CCC Team) went into the hotseat early with a time of 25.39 on a lumpy
course.
Trek
Segafredo’s Mads Pedersen took over with a time of 25.09 before his team mate Irishman
Ryan Mullen finished in 24.41.
Team
Sky’s Tao Geoghagen-Hart rode well to go provisionally third in 25.09 before
Yves Lampaert went into the hot seat with a time of 24.38.
Steve
Cummings finished in 25.26 before Groupama FDJ’s Stefan Keung romped home in 24.33.
Tadej
Pogacar was last out of the gatehouse and finished in 24.50 to keep his lead of
the race with a fifth-place finish behind Stefan Keung who won took the stage
win and said that he was really to have won in his first race with his new team
and that he hoped to go and do well in the classics.
