Binck Bank Tour Stage Win For Gregor Mühlberger
Austrian Gregor Mühlberger took the win
on stage six at the Binck Bank Tour
Stage six was a 182.2 km stage from Riemst to
Sittard-Geleen, which featured 20 climbs.
The break took its time to form and there was 140kms left
when Brändle (TFS), Van der Lijcke (RNL), Backaert (WGG) and Gougeard (ALM)
broke and within ten kilometres had attained a lead of six minutes.
After Baptiste Planckaert abandoned following a crash, the
peloton started to work to bring them back and with forty-five kilometres left,
the junction had been made.
Marcel Kittel abandoned as Macej Bodnar and Timo Roosen
took over the lead with Bodnar taking all nine seconds at the Golden Kilometre.
The break was soon added to by Tim Wellens of Lotto
Soudal, Jasper Stuyen of Trek, Yves Lampaert of Quick Step, Greg Van Avermaet of BMC and Michael Matthews of Team Sunweb.
An attack by Tim Wellens saw the break collapse and
Wellens was joined by Zdenek Stybar with Gregor Mühlberger
and Dylan Van Baarle also joining in on the fun.
Inside the final kilometre and Bora Hansgrohe’s Gregor Mühlberger attacked
and took the win in 4.05.10 ahead of Tim Wellens.
Bahrain Merida’s Matej Mohoric leads going into the final
stage with a 32 second lead over Michael Matthews.
